RNN Group Receives Prestigious Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Silver Rating for its Higher Education Provision

RNN Group – which includes University Centre Rotherham (UCR), Rotherham College, North Notts College and Dearne Valley College – is delighted to announce that its Higher Education Provision has been awarded an overall Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Silver rating for quality and standards.

Assessed by an independent group of academics, students and employers, the TEF was introduced by the government in 2017 to provide a resource for students to judge teaching quality and positive student outcomes in higher education providers and to increase the importance of delivering excellence when rating institutions.

The TEF is another resource to help students, both domestic and international, decide where to go to study in England. The main difference is that the TEF is a government-stamped resource that students may consider important when choosing a provider.

Providers are classified gold, silver or bronze and requires improvement where no rating is awarded. These ratings are determined by seven core metrics based on teaching, academic support and positive progression to employment. 

An overall silver rating means that the student experience and student outcomes are typically of a very high quality.

University Centre Rotherham opened it’s doors to students in Autumn 2018, providing access to higher education in a wide range of subjects providing flexible and affordable routes to gaining top quality degrees in the state-of-the-art facility with a focus on supporting local learners and communities.
