On Thursday 25th January, Rotherham Collegeโs Wharncliffe Restaurant learners cooked and hosted a special dining experience for Burns Night for around 40 guests.
Learners on courses ranging from Level 1-3 hosted the event under the supervision of the Rotherham College hospitality team.
Learners had spent the day preparing the six course tasting menu for the evening celebrations which included traditional Scottish foods such as cullen skink, salmon, haggis, neeps and tatties, cranachan, clootie dumpling and whisky infused ice cream.
Following the preparation, some of the learners then moved to hosting in the restaurant to greet guests and seat them before the fine dining experience began with a set of three canapes. The presentation of each course was exceptional and all plates empty for each course.
Last year at the same event, one customer remarked,
โWe have been dining at your restaurant on and off for many years and this is simply the best itโs ever been, with a standard of food which matches any fine dining restaurant not only in South Yorkshire but beyond.
He continued,
โThe team at The Wharncliffe have transformed it into a place where exceptional and innovative food creates such a pleasurable experience for the diner, and that much was obvious from this evening with a fully booked dining room, clean plates after every course, diners happily paying their bills and leaving with a smile.
He added finally,
โThe Wharncliffe must surely rank as one of the finest college training restaurants in the country, offering such a thoroughly enjoyable and exciting dining experience.โ
This year’s experience with a new team did not disappoint!
