From Wednesday 6th December, diners can indulge in a sumptuous three-course festive menu at Rotherham Collegeโs training restaurant.
The Wharncliffe is open to customers three lunchtimes and two evenings each week, offering fine dining at a fair price; the Christmas lunch menu is just ยฃ21.50 and the Christmas dinner menu is ยฃ24.50.
Everything is cooked by our promising young chefs and served by smartly dressed front-of-house learners. By opening the restaurant to paying customers, our catering and hospitality students receive real-life work experience which helps build additional skills to improve their employability.
Students have helped curate this yearโs Christmas menus which feature traditional favourites like roast turkey with all the trimmings, alongside more elevated entrees like roast salmon fillet served with straw potatoes and a rosemary beurre blanc.
Excite your tastebuds with starters such as rabbit and ham hock terrine, or a trio of salmon featuring gravlax, smoked and ceviche fish alongside horseradish biscotti.
And be sure to leave room for dessert. Youโll be spoilt for choice with traditional Christmas pudding with rum sauce, Panettone bread and butter pudding, or chocolate and hazelnut parfait with homemade ice cream.
There is a draught bar and barista coffee service, plus a full wine list to complement your meal.
Christmas is a time for treats, and The Wharncliffe is certainly the gift that keeps on giving. You could be in any top restaurant around the country and experience always exceeds expectations.
Everything is made from scratch, from the stocks and sauces to stuffings and puddings. Our catering students use fresh, high quality ingredients in all their dishes and have access to industry-standard cooking equipment like rationale ovens, sous vide water baths, and commercial grills.
Our students are supported by a team of tutors who have all cut their teeth at some fine establishments before moving into teaching.
The professional cookery courses are led by production chef, Marco, who has been a chef for 30 years working in Michelin star restaurants and cooking for royalty, and experienced chef lecturer, Charlie, who was previously a private chef for high end clients for many years.
Hospitality students at Rotherham College receive thorough training from restaurant manager, John, who previously worked in food and beverage management in the hotel sector before joining us here at Rotherham College 15 years ago.
A sophisticated restaurant offering a quality dining experience, you could be in any top restaurant around the country and experience always exceeds expectations.
